Adrian Copeland Snr & Jnr: Louis Copeland & Sons
Louis Copeland & Sons, Ireland's most exclusive and best known menswear retailer, is one of the country's most successful family businesses. It is now into its fifth generation of trading and the company is going from strength to strength. Louis Copeland & Sons has had strong growth over the last decade and although challenging times have arrived, the company believes that the emphasis it has paid to a renowned service and excellent product quality will enable it to hold onto a loyal customer base.

At present, Louis Copeland & Sons has four stores in Dublin city and two more in Dublin airport and Galway. Its long established stores are located on Pembroke Street, Capel Street and Wicklow Street, and the most recent addition is a new venture in the CHQ building in the IFSC. The stores in Dublin airport and Galway were established in the last five years, as the company started to move away from its traditional city centre locations.

Louis and Adrian Copeland are joint managing directors of the company whilst the next generation, Louis and Adrian Copeland Jnr, are both directors. Beyond the Copeland family, the company employs 55 staff members.

Adrian Copeland Snr began his career under his father Louis in 1971 in the Capel Street store. After nine years in Capel Street he established the Pembroke Street store in 1980 which has been hugely successful. Copeland Snr has been one of the main influences in the changing profile of Louis Copeland & Sons from the traditional bespoke tailoring business to the largest exclusive ready-to-wear retailers in the country. His main talents are product development, from production to completed garment. He is often recognised as one of the most knowledgeable in Europe when it comes to translating continental garments to suit the Irish market. As such, he has acted as consultant to many of the top European brands for the Irish market and beyond. This has all stemmed from his bespoke roots.

Adrian Copeland Jnr attended St Michael's College in Ballsbridge, and obtained a BSc in Business Management from the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) on Aungier Street specialising in retail and services. He started his career in the Louis Copeland & Sons store in Galway when it was newly opened, working in the set-up of this store for the first three years. He has recently moved back to Dublin, where he works with all the stores there. His main roles within the company include operations, buying and sales, and he has introduced, and is still implementing, new practices and systems that have created more efficient and successful trading. He has been working in the company for six years and in 2009 is opting for a post graduate degree in business studies.
